Pushchairs

Is it worth getting a parasol for my pushchair?

I have been reading reviews on parasols for pushchairs and most say they are rubbish, i would kind of like to get one that matches my pushchair but is it really worth it, are they that bad a product? At the moment im using a blanket to drape over the front of the hood, its effective but looks messy just hanging there!

Only worth it if you tend to stand the pushchair still in one spot for long periods with the baby in it.

Otherwise, you have to keep repositioning it all the time as you change direction.

Not worth it. I couldn't ever get mine to cover the baby.

I used a really large muslin and clipped it to the pram.

They're a shocking invention. As previously mentioned they only provide a small circle of shade which moves around as the buggy changes direction. They also wobble around as you are walking and the slightest bit of wind and they're nowhere near your baby! Much better to get the buggy hood an extension such as shade-a-babe, although they're like a big black mesh and I found them a bit full on. I ended up using a muslin clipped on for when they're tiny, then sun hats and sun glasses as soon as possible.

RandonMess with the shade a babe can you see the baby through it, or is it totally not see through?

you can see through a bit, also there is a zip panel so you can have a peak.

If we have a sunny summer they are the only think worth having or possibly a ray shade which makes the hood much bigger.

what puschair do you have?

If it's a rear facer 2 part folding like bugaboo Cam or icandy apple you will need a ray shade.

If it's forward facing I'd get a shade a babe. Great for helping block out the light for nap time too Grin

I have a couple of silver cross parasols and they're much better than any other parasols I've tried. They stay where you put them too, which is always helpful! Last summer the pushchairs I was using meant DD's legs hung off the edge of the seat so shad things that go over the seat unit annoyed her and she's kick them a lot. That's when a parasol worked well.
