How do I know if I am buying the new or old B-Dual?
notso · 05/03/2012 17:18
Been looking at the B-Dual as a stop gap as need to get something soon, EDD 24th April and they seems to be quite cheap.
How do I know if it is the old style or new style one?
Are their any significant differences?

Ok, which old and new style? 2010 to 2011 which was the biggest jump in changes, or 2011-2012?

Actually in a nutshell - the first B-Duals have very tall hoods and usually come with a footmuff. The colours include green, red, black and denim.
The 2011 B-Duals were black, purple and the turquoise blue. There was no footmuff and the hoods were lowered and split in the middle to allow an extension piece to be added to raise the hoods.
The 2012 B-Duals are easy to spot as they have 2 spoke wheels. The rear wheels are air (like? Maybe foam filled without looking it up) and the fabrics are softer and include a biscuit colour, red with black frame and black.
That's a quick summary!!

Great thanks Tiggy to the rescue again!
Didn't know about the first ones with footmuffs, though that would explain why I have seen loads of the denim carrycots so cheap but couldn't find a denim pushchair.
I have been looking at a 2011 I think, will check the wheels as it is a black one.
Is it worth paying extra for a 2012 or is there not much difference?

If money is an issue in the slightest bit, I would get a 2011. But if you really don't care about the price, I'd get a 2012. It sounds like you would be best with a 2011 though. The differences I know about from 2011 to 2012 are that the harness separates into 5 pieces (the 2011 one has a continuous strap from shoulder to hip so can be awkward to add/remove a footmuff or liner), the wheels are foam filled as Tiggy says which may make it very slightly lighter to push but it's already nice to push, the fabrics are supposed to be stronger and, in my opinion, they look prettier. :) So not worth the extra £150 or whatever it is if you don't want to through that money away.

If the fabrics are like the B-Agile though, they will pick up every bit of fluff, dust and dirt going though.....!! Nightmare to keep clean!
notso · 06/03/2012 14:04
Thanks to you both.
Not liking the nightmare to keep clean!
Money isn't really an issue it's more timescale.
We want the Peach Blossom Two, it's not everything I need but everything I need won't go in my house (Bugaboo Donkey).
My EDD isn't until 24th April, and I was planning on using my Cam and a sling if the PB2 wasn't quite ready but due to unstable BP, large, breech baby and previous pregnancy history, it is becoming more and more likely I will have to have a C- Section before then.
I haven't had a CS before but friends who have think I may struggle with a sling for a while afterwards.
So we were thinking of buying a B-Dual and either loving it or selling it on when PB2 is available.

I had a C-section, but also had a slight slipped disc. I couldn't use a sling for the first 6 months at all. It would be a struggle with the older child in a pushchair too even without having had abdominal surgery. I'd go ahead with the B-Dual 2011 until the PB2 is out as planned. :)
