you know I'm currently obsessing about a parent facer which must be cheap - well what do you think of the first wheels city elite? Yes it's not going to do the beach but hey what parent facer will? So do I get this and shut up about it (partners words!!)

Another potential problem is its aqua and I have a girl. Never thought I would do the gender stereotypes but I am.

I don't know much about the first wheels city elite TBH. I know we looked at the double version but dismissed it due to the folded size/shape not working for the boot. The single is only 59cm wide which is pretty good for a parent facer. And it looks like it has air tyres which are my preference. I think they make for a better ride. Hopefully someone will be along soon with more info!

Are you buying new? And what's the budget?

Aqua's not too boyish. But maybe get a footmuff and/or liner that has the same aqua in it but is a bit more girly. Something like this or this?

I like aqua! I think it's actually very stereotypically gender neutral. But this is coming from someone who subconsciously buys blue and boys clothes (I mean on the boys' side) for their daughter rather than pink. Grin I've had 3 blue pushchairs so far.

Anyway, back to the question. I don't know much about them but I feel it's worth a punt at £55! They look decent enough and I've never heard anything in particular about issues with them.

Ooh I don't know. People rave about the vigour. Is it a 3 or 4 wheel? I would ask whether it's a + or not but I don't know the difference!

You could tone it down with a black footmuff. And when people ask what your little boy's name is, just say "Jack"! Wink Grin

I've just checked and the Vigour's 67cm wide so that's quite a difference! Are you taking your DD to try in both for size and how easy they are to push?

It's a 3 wheel vigour but she wont be showing it as being cleaned up which is a pain as I want to see it. Think its the non bucket seat one.

The first wheels has a carrycot option. DD is only 10wks old so can't test her in seat plus knowing my luck she will reflux everywhere!!!!

If its the same person, then go and have a look and have a good play. Check things like handle height. How sturdy it is. How easy it is to remove the seats. What the fold is like. What the basket and the access is like. Try your DD in the seats, or take a tape measure.
To be honest, I think you will know when you see them. I suspect the Britax will feel more sturdy and the Vigour certainly has a good reputation.
Good luck!
Oh and I like Aqua :))

Thanks tiggy I think I know which one I really want plus I can imagine dragging the vigour backwards across beach!

Will see if I can look at both tomorrow.

Hi all. Well I went and looked and decided I didn't like it. The seat was a moulded type and didn't like the frame. Felt flimsy.

I didnt get to see the vigour. Hoping it's a 3+ model otherwise I Wong like the seat.

aswellasyou · 18/01/2012 15:18

When you say moulded, do you mean bucket style? So the whole seat reclines as one piece, rather than the back reclining seperately from the seat base?

Yes it's a bucket seat. I don't really like them either. Did you want to be able to use it straight away without buying a carrycot as well?

Hi yes bucket seat- like a zapp extra. Like to have different recline positions.

It had a carrycot too. Bargain for someone but not for me.

Thinking the vigour will be sturdier and hopefully a newer model as prefer seat. Am i right in thinking that I can put older models air tyres on it?
