ABC Adventure twin buggy with toddler seat

Does anyone in the UK distribute Adventure Buggy Company pushchairs?

Shipping from Oz or NZ adds to the already expensive price tag so I wondered if anyone had found a UK supplier? I've checked eBay too but had no luck there either.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

No, you have to buy direct for NZ as Adventure Buggies are not safety approved for sale in the UK. But don't buy from the EBay seller / shop. Go direct to Phil Green (the original Phil of Phil&Teds) and buy via him. You can contact him via their website. He is a real gentleman to deal with and apparently prices are much less. He is constantly shipping to the UK.
BUT I DO urge you, before you ship one, to do everything you can to see an Adventure Buggy in real life. There's several of us here with one who I am sure would be willing to demo, or find an EBay seller and try to see before you buy (even if you don't want to buy from
them!) It's an unusual but superb pushchair and I love mine but I really urge you to see one before spending the best part of £1000 on one plus import duties. Its not easy to live with / fold / store / put in a car boot.

Thank you. I will take your advice and try to see one first. I've emailed ABC directly so hopefully they'll get back to me with prices in the next couple of pounds but looking at the Oz distributor website, it's approx £950 plus £200 shipping charges. Duty may be charged in top of that too!

Do you mind me asking what car you drive? We've spent the weekend looking for cars that will fit 3 ars seats and accommodate a triple pushchair. Audi A6 looks like a possibility currently although would be pretty old model to bring it into my price range.

I have a Megane CC which has a large boot to accommodate the roof. But it was the length that defeated us! I think you will need a people carrier type that you can fold one seat down on.
My single ABC with toddler seat on (not that the toddler seat makes much difference to the length) is photo is here in the last photo. Excuse the state of the boot - its since been cleaned!! LOL
I have had lots of pushchairs in and the Adventure Buggy is the only one which would not fit, nor did it even get close!!
You would almost certainly have import tax.
If you can say approx where you live, someone here may be able to help you see one. I am in the north.

I have the double ABC with baby seat on the top. I bought it direct from Phil Green at ABC last January in the sale, it was £499. I paid no shipping charges or import tax, and it arrived less that 5 working days after I ordered it (Phil said this was a record when I emailed him).

I haven't had to put it in the car but can imagine it would be a nightmare taking it all apart to fit it in (top seat off, front wheels off).

It is easy to push when all seats are used, but VERY heavy. In fact, I've just taken off the front bumper bar to reduce the weight as the children are getting older. I'm quite short so seeing over the top seat is also a challenge. Someone in a shop once said a periscope would be useful! The buggy is weighted to compensate for the top seat and so it is quite awkward getting up kerbs until you get the hang of it.

I am in Somerset, if you are close enough to come and have a look I'd be glad of a grown-up visitor!

It's hit and miss as to whether you get charged import taxes...It's been 50/50 for me.

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 27/11/2011 14:10

It's been 95/5 for me! I get taxed almost every time! £16 this week for a pushchair parent console!!

Have you looked at Fiat Multiplas? They have 3 proper seats in both the back and front, and the boot's really wide. My sister's had 3 babies across the back, two in big extended rear facing seats, and one double pushchair and two singles in the boot with room for shopping. The single ABC with double top seat may be worth a look too, although storage may be an issue.

And congratulations!

I'm aswellasyou's sister with the fiat multipla. Looking at twinkle's photo of the single abc in the boot (or not quite in the boot), I'd say it'd get in my boot no problem like that, and I'd imagine the single with double top seat would too. Not so sure about the double with single top seat though. Although I do have the back seats in the back position. You can move them about 3-4" further forward so that would make more boot space.
In the back position there's also enough room to climb around a rear facing seat to get to the child in the middle. And then there are 3 seats in the front too. It's a very wide car but not any longer than a normal car. It's shorter than my uncle's vauxhall and I can squeeze into a normal space!
There are plenty around second hand and an AA man once told me that they rarely deal with fiats which can only be a good sign! Grin

Thank you all. Had a lovely email back from ABC but think I'll hold fire for now in the hope that I can buy one second hand. There are none on eBay but I did see the one on the TAMBA website that was mentioned. It's the opposite end of the country to us though :(

We are going to have a look at cars this weekend so will look at Fiats too, thank you all!

There were two triples on EBay earlier...because I was searching for them - but I don't know which toddler seat was on them. They were around £300 I thnk. Make sure you search for these terms in the Baby section separately : 'abc' 'adventure buggy' and 'everest'.

NoMoreWineForMeThen · 30/11/2011 06:30

Really? Thank you, I'll look again.

They are here: EBay listings They both are triples with reclining toddler seats.
