Tell me I don't need a Britax pushchair frame please!

Morning all,

I have been lurking on your threads for months as its seemed to be a bit mental weird to have four pushchairs but no baby...

However, I'm de-lurking now as LO is nearly here and I need your wisdom!

We've been warned that LO is likely to be tiny, and so we're thinking of buying the Britax Baby safe sleeper as a car seat - we live in the middle of nowhere so all car trips are at least 45 mins, plus my family are 7 hours away. We've been given a Group 0 Britax car seat which we would use after she grows out of the Baby safe sleeper, so we wouldn't have to buy two Group 0s.

I now find myself wanting a Britax chasis to put the sleeper on so I can use it as a travel system. Please tell me which one to get that I don't need this

the britax b smart looks lovely and you can get 3 or 4 wheel versions, almost bought one my self the purple rain on black frame looks stunning.

Think you can use them with Oyster pushchairs.

Our B-Dual is in purple rain and it's gorgeous!
It depends what you want/need it for really. The B-Mobile is cheap, lightweight and very compact but the wheels aren't amazing over rough ground (better than most strollers though). If you wanted it to be good over rough ground, then you'd be looking at the B-Smart or B-Dual (that you could put a second seat on for a future child ). They're not cheap new but reasonable second hand. Or you could get a Babystyle Oyster which is good with air tyres (bought seperately for £25ish) but the front wheels tend to buckle going down kerbs. It is a great pushchair apart from that though. Or buy them all and have 7 pushchairs!!

I have a Babystyle Oyster and love it. I don't know what this buckling is, as we've never experienced it. It definitely makes life easier bring able to put the car seat straight onto the chassis.

Go for the Oyster. You won't need to use the frame for two children - if you already have four pre-birth you are a bona fide addict like the rest of us and no doubt will work your way through about another ten doubles just for fun when the time comes :)

I hated my Britax b-mobile, and replaced it asap with the icandy cherry which to all intents and purposes is a lot like the Oyster. It's much nicer for when you have a tiddly one to have the big basket, it fits on the bus, unless you're truly sporty you don't really need it to off road yet. TBH I found the Britax buggy heavy, long, awkward and the front wheel stuck in the locked position when it was loaded up with shopping - infuriating!! I also think the Oyster is prettier lol :)

I also found re: multi-purpose pram stuff that it's better to have a decent newborn buggy that does the coffee shop circuit well IMO, and forget about getting something that does everything. I didn't bother with getting fit until DS was over 6mo anyway. But maybe that's just me... The Oyster has colour packs so you can change the look when you get bored, and my friends who have it (two so far) love it.

The B-Mobile I linked to (and the one I have) is the 2011 version which is much better than previous versions apparently. I don't know what you wouldn't like about it to be honest. Apart from the lack of extending footrest I suppose.

StuckUp, which version of the Oyster do you have? I've heard of loads of people having the same buckling problem. My sister's does it if she doesn't go down a biggish kerb at an angle.

Thank you all for confirming that I don't do need a britax chasis

I have the Herqules which I love and should take care of all our off-roading requirements, and which has a carry cot and car seat adaptors for the older rock a tot car seat, so I think I can only justify this if its a small lightweight type which will do for out and about town, and later when I may need a lightweight buggy.

Sooooo, which do we think? B-mobile? or B-smart?

The B-Smart is not small or lightweight by any stretch of the imagination! The B-Mobile and B-Agile both are, but the B-Agile is about £220 whereas the B-Mobile is more like £110. If you do get the B-Mobile, just make sure it's the 2011 version. Babies R Us was the cheapest place for the Black Thunder when I got mine month or so ago. There might be other deals on now but it's really hard to establish which year they are sometimes.

well if you do go for the b-mobile, I agree, def get the 2011 4 wheel option!! I really wouldn't touch the other models with a barge pole :)

i was looking at the britax b agile and it looks really good, baby gizmo really rates it, our version due out in sept will have 4 wheels and not 3

I'm sorry for the delay in replying - still no baby and feel like I've hit the wall! Hopefully some pushchair browsing will cheer me up no end . I think I would struggle to justify the spend on anything other than the B-mobile - how do I tell the difference between the two models? (sorry, adled PG brain...)

I really do think the agile is the best bet. The compactness and fold will be a real bonus!

Your Herqules is a big lump and I can see you using the agile for chucking in boot and holidays as well as when you decide you would rather a stroller.

I have the Herqules and the baby jogger city mini which the agile is modelled on. In reality I know the bjcm will be the one that's kept in the car.

Ooh, now that's interesting. The BJCM is the one which OH likes (because of the fold). I stand a much better chance of getting yet another one if its based on that

Dare I ask how you find the Herqules - I'm still at the stand and stroke it stage, and haven't actually used it in anger at all yet, so I hope I'm not building myself up to a huge disappointment...

Baby not here yet either! I love the bjcm. I only suggested britax as thought you wanted car seat to go on it. But then again it probably wouldn't be compatible.

Fold is very similar to bjcm but there is a side latch too. Have a look on YouTube

There are lots of places that have the b-agile now. It'd be worth you going somewhere and trying the b agile and b mobile if you're able to waddle get that far out of the house! You can even try them against the others suggested.

I have an oyster and I'm happy with it apart from how annoying the buckling is, but you probably wouldn't convince your dh to get one so I'd try for one of the others he's more likely to agree to!

The B-Agile is basically a better version of the B-Mobile. It has a better hood with a zip section in the middle that has a mesh sunshade in it. It's smaller folded although a tad thicker. It's got a narrower wheel base, the simple one handed (but two step) fold and unfolded, it has a removeable cover over the back with a mesh underneath (you can only tell when it's reclined) and its back wheels are bigger. It also comes wiith the raincover, unlike the B-Mobile. The B-Mobile is a lot cheaper though!

RESULT!!!!

Broached the subject with OH today (along the lines of : Britax do a pushchair which folds like that BJCM one you like, and would take the Sleeper plus we could use it as a town buggy, might be worth thinking about), and he's gone for it!!!! Thinks its a great idea

Will the agile take the sleeper? If so check the fabric is removable like bjcm.

Will you be getting the three or four wheeler?

Aha!

Not sure re 3 or 4 wheeler yet, but have checked the website and it says that it takes the Sleeper. It doesn't look like the fabrics are removable though

Just looked on website too. Mmm the carrycot going to look odd with fabric on. I have the hard carrycot for my bjcm. I'm taking the fabric off so it looks good.

Which two britax seats do you have? IMO the sleeper is going to be outgrown soon. You may be better off saving your money.

You don't need the pushchair bit and you won't want it either.

We had the carrycot/pram bit for baby to sleep in and go out in and then at 4 months they went into a buggy and a cot.

the b agile in the uk is 4 wheels, the usa version is 3 wheels, 4 wheels will be better anyway less tippy when using carseat, pleased you are both still loving the herqules!!! i am now on a ban from buying pushchairs but i do love the b agile, i counted up how many i have had in total for 4 dc and its 60!!!!

Take your point Sleepevader about the Sleeper being outgrown quickly. We've had growth scans and have been warned that she's likely to be small, plus having lots of long car journeys, have had us leaning towards the sleeper. We've been given a Rock a tot plus also a britax baby safe seat too (both of which we know the history of).

If we got the Agile, we could presumably use it round town as a buggy when the Herqules demolishes display units is a bit overkill....
