Is it worth getting a cocoon with my Phil and Ted's?

My baby is due Sept 1st and after a lot of debate on doubles and trying them out in shops etc, I've decided to go for a Phil and Ted's with a doubles kit. Bidding on ebay at the moment for a 2nd hand bargain.

Just wondered whether it's worth getting a cocoon as well? Presumably it will still be quite warm when baby is born, maybe too hot need one? Even if that's the case, I might consider one for the winter, how long do.they last? My first baby was a 9lber so this one might be quite big too.

I can't speak for the Phil and Teds cocoon but by the end of September / beginning October the weather really has turned and personally I would want my baby in something. I used a Bugaboo Cocoon in most of my pushchairs which uses the harness to keep baby strapped in but yet baby and cocoon can be lifted out easily. My 9lb++ baby was in his until 9 months old.

I have 3 DC's and the youngest two used the cacoon - they both hated it and went in it once or twice! I also leant it to a friend and her DD hated it

I ended up buying a converter for the maxi cosi car seat and clipping that on the main frame and putting the toddler in the back. This is not recommended by phil and teds for tipping / stability but I had no problem whatsoever. Mine were 1.11 and 2.1 when the next was born so happy to walk most of the time

We had two 9lbers 18 months apart. Phil and Teds has been brilliant, but DS2 only fitted in the cocoon for 6 weeks... Now have an almost new one in the cupboard. If you're any where near SE London, it's going cheap!

I had the cocoon and didn't even have a Phil and Teds -my DS2 loved it and slept it in the evenings; got it for a good price on ebay and sold it for around the same

I had one for my Sept born DD. She didn't need it for the first couple of weeks but was great once the weather turned chilly. If we walked to friends houses I could just lift her out and pop her on the floor in it, I used to call her 'my baby in a bag'.

She grew out of it by 4/5 months (ie; when it was really cold) so I had to put her on the reclining back seat and used a buggy snuggle, it kept her just as warm.

Definately look for a second hand one, first time I put mine in the NCT sale for £15 there was a huge pile of them! I eventually sold it for £7, way cheaper than new and in excellent condition.

Ive got coccoon for my Feb baby due. Friends who have used them loved them as did babies, Stayed in them until 3-5mth depending on size..
Great for taking out of pram while baby asleep too.

The P&T cocoon is fab, but it is small, both of mine were too long to fit into it well before the recommend 6 months (they were both 6lbers so not huge by any stretch, but they also got bored stuck in the underneath bit at about 3 months (when they stopped sleeping all day!) It is cosy and warm and all mine needed was a gro and blanket while they were in it (both were winter babies) but you can opt not to zip up the cocoon which makes it much cooler for autumn.
I also used it a fair few times at night when they were tiny as it is so snuggly!

I would recommend as they are great for lifting a sleeping baby out of the push chair and transporting elsewhere.
However my baby started rolling quite early and at that point the P&T became a bit of a pain. Stopped using it at around 9 months.
Second hand is definitely the way to go.
