Quinny Buzz owners, can I pick your brains please?

I'm about to collect my first one, used, but it is described as having quite worn tyres. My current pushchair, a Hauck 3- wheeler thingy, has just died due to tyre wear. We walk so much every day that it just kept wearing down until there were holes in the rubber and it turned out to be cheaper to buy a new used pram than to replace the tyres!

So.... What are thoughts on making the best use of the Quinny (which I expect I will want to keep forever!)?

Can I buy foam wheels, not air filled ones, and if so, where?
If I buy brand new air filled tyres, how long do you think they will last? What can I do to make then last as long as poss?
Is that slime stuff really going to help for very heavy use?

i would buy new tyres from ebay and fit them yourself,shouldnt be too expensive just for tyres, if you're not up to that,go to a small independant bike shop (usually cheaper than halfords and the likes) and ask how much they would charge.
see how you get on with them before you put slime inn them,i never had any punctures on mine (maybe i was just lucky)

Thanks sazm. I've been looking on ebay and have found some that are described as 'chunky' for the quinny, and they do look tougher than the normal ones. Worth watching. Once I see the tyres properly on wednesday, and not just on a photo, I'll have a better idea of what to do, I expect.

Has anyone ever managed to wear quinny tyres down to holes, I wonder? Are they likely to be better quality than the Haucks that I've demolished?

lol,i had 2 buzz's and found the tyres to be pretty hardwearing, maybe worth buying a spare wheel with a tyre on it,so if you do get a puncture you can just stick your spare wheel on while you fix your other one?
i know some people swear by the slime stuff,i've heard others say it makes them quite hard and wear quicker (because the slime is heavier than air,so makes the tyres wear more?)

Oh, that's an interesting point re the slime, makes compplete sense to me. Hmm, yes, maybe chunky tyres, replaced whenever I see signs of wear, are the answer then!

yup lol,at least you can replace the tyres pretty reasonably,whereas if they were foam,you would have to replace the whole wheel - my sister had foam wheels ona britax pram system she bought,they wore down completely,she had to buy new wheels for her second baby - at a cost of £150 for 4!!!!!! the pram cost her £600 in the first place,so she figured she was better spending £150 on wheels,than buying a new pram system!!

Wow! sticking to boring old air tyres, I think!

i know lol, i would have used that as an excuse to buy a new pram lol,but she loved it SO much,and couldnt justify spending £600 on the pram,and only using it for one baby :(
