Have bought a pushchair to do up for my DS but the handle is damaged. I need black tape to cover it. What kind of tape can I use?

We had this problem and bought new foam handlebars from halfords - designed for bikes but were perfect. Four for a fiver. Just cut off the old tape/handle and put the new foam one on.

we replaced ours - with the foam pipe insulating stuff from the hardware store Grin

Trouble is it's a shaped continous handle on a double buggy, so not sure how I could get foam pipe onto it. Although thank you both as that will solve my damaged quest handles.

Cycle shops will have bar tape as well - similar idea but you wrap it around.

another thought - but a what not to do ...don't try electrical tape, it goes sticky and falls off Hmm (don't ask how it can do both of these simultaneously but take my word for it)

I have just bought a Phil & Teds Velcro handlebar cover on Ebay which may be an idea or there are people making handlebar covers on Ebay.

Tennis racket grip?

tutu100 · 20/05/2011 12:09

Thank you all I am off to investigate all those options.

Anc1ent the previous owner tried to remedy the problem with electrical tape. I know exactly what you mean Smile it looks awful didn't stay on the bar very well, yet when I tried to remove it was a bugger to get off in places and damaged the original foam even more!

Hockey (ice) stick tape is fabulous for repairs like that. It's also pretty indestructible unless you're actually playing hockey with it :o

I used padded cycle handlebar tape as it's porous so stops you getting too sweaty and slippy - although yes for a quest the handlebars are perfect - I gor 4 for about £10 on ebay
