maclaren quest or P&T smart

I have a P&T sport which i love but I will be travelling to Oz alone with DD in May (who will have just turned 1 at the time of the flight) and I don't think i can manage the Sport by myself plus baggage etc. Also i dont think it will fit into the rental car at the other end.

I have been looking at strollers and seem to have narrowed down the ones i like to the Maclaren Quest or the P&T smart stroller.

I love the look of the P&T smart but would be very interested to hear from anyone who has one as to how functional they are. DD would need to be able to sleep in it and i am not sure it reclines sufficiently to allow for that. Have been keeping an eye out for one in stores to have a test run but so far not seen one. Also, how easy are they to fold and unfold?

The Maclaren seems to be the popular choice for a lightweight umbrella style stroller. Seems fairly vanilla but the "sensible choice" if you know what i mean. I do have a soft spot for the Cath Kidston red spot version but not the budget unfortunately.

So, any thoughts or other suggestions? I should say i am 5"9 and DH is 6"1 so it would be good if whatever we buy is height adjustable.

d'you reckon it'd sell for anything? its a bit bashed up i think,or is it not really worth selling, but good for hanging on to for me?!

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 22:21

FriggFRIGG · 01/03/2011 22:25

STOP LAUGHING AT ME!!!

im just excitable is all...'speshly with pushchairs Blush

suzie38 · 01/03/2011 22:25

If i get one then i want one with the flip over handle, as my Citisport is good enough for forward facing...Not researched the Aprica models yet...I'm suppose to not be coveting pushchairs now i've bought a Uppababy Vista...I'm also coveting Vigours!!! I don't have a 3 wheeler so think that model is justified in my house Wink

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 22:26

no idea, probably wold sell on here due to a high ratio of obsessive idiots like us people who like prams. but ebay, not so sure, not everyone knows about them.

Mind you I've had to quote shipping prices for the Streety to Germany Confused, so it really might do if you worded it right. I.E tiny light weight parent facing...

Suzie might be interested though Grin and I'd have had your arm off if I hadn't got the bee

suzie38 · 01/03/2011 22:26

friggFRIGG you still getting a Frog???

suzie38 · 01/03/2011 22:27

My Bee Plus is going on eBay soon...If i need to replace that i'll try an Oyster.

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 22:28

some more stuff to covet

FriggFRIGG · 01/03/2011 22:29

yeah...i want it here now

but i need to sell more stuff first

FriggFRIGG · 01/03/2011 22:31

honeydragon,you are a BAD influence.

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 22:31

sugarplum

If you can get one in your area in stock these tick all your boxes and this is a brilliant offer.

suzie38 · 01/03/2011 22:33

Lovely Jubbly...I love the variety of colors...Our buggies are never that interesting...Peg Perego do far better colors than M&P's for example...If i needed a double then Combi do one with 6 sets of wheels.

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 22:33

this looks rather interesting?

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 22:35

Yes, but I am reformed now..... I have the two.

I can only help others on their quest (or smart as it were) now Wink

Grin
TheSugarPlumFairy · 01/03/2011 22:56

lol, this thread look a turn didnt it.

The combi urban looks interesting but i really dont want to be wandering around changi airport with DD in my arms for 6 hours.

I have looked at the techno and the other maclarens, the Baby Jogger and all the others and while they are all nice and i am sure would do the job, my heart belongs to phil and teds. I just love the Smart.

It seems that if you use the Verso adapter it can recline much further than it does standard so that might be sufficient. I need to find one in real life and sit DD in it and see how it feels.

I've no idea where they are in person...Mothercare sells them this time around but didn't spot one in the store last week, though i wasn't looking that much to be honest.

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 23:07

You do get an extra recline with the adapters but as far as I am aware when I spoke to phil and teds about this, you have to remove the adapters to fold it. This put me off as I would lose them somewhere Grin, they do look quite funky though when you see them I'm the flesh. But I found they lacked somewhat, I think it's something you'd get for a holiday and then never use again.

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 23:08

Where abouts are you plum? Oxford pram centre has them.

suzie38 · 01/03/2011 23:09

My Smart was the nipping to the park buggy.

FriggFRIGG · 01/03/2011 23:09

on the p&t website here and click 'find retailer...

Honeydragon · 01/03/2011 23:14

Did you have the adapters suzie? I asked them is they were going to bring out a 3rd generation smart without need for the verso adapters and they said no Sad so that's what put me off, I'm terrible for losing things like that. I did really like the big wheels though.

suzie38 · 02/03/2011 05:38

No i didn't...I'd already decided months ago before i read about the adapters that my Smart was for the chop, so i thought it a waste of time buying...Plus DD nevers naps in buggy with me and likes to sit bolt upright.

TheSugarPlumFairy · 02/03/2011 09:06

We are in west surrey. Going out today so will keep my eyes peeled.

I am being ridiculous really. I know I am. All the other buggies meet my requirements much better but the p&t jst fills me with lust.

If you don't get it for the trip you'll end up finding an excuse to buy it anyway

you've got the yearning, the only cure is purchase Grin
