Pushchairs for on holiday?

I love my bug cam but I'm not willing to risk taking it on a flight, worried it will be broken by baggage handlers, or lost. I'm thinking of buying a maclaran techno xlr or similar for use on holiday. Will it be comfy for 5mo ds? Is it light & easy to take on holiday? In any event will I eventually need an umbrella fold as well as my bug cam or is it just a needless extravagance?

What do experienced parents say about taking a pushchair on holiday???

maclarens great for holidays, but xlr is the biggest and heaviest of the lot. however does have a fab large and tilting hood so good if you are going somewhere hot. the xt slightly more compact but still as good imo.

The XT is AFAIK more of a full size pushchair so is one of the heavier umbrella folds.

I had the XT for my DS and did'nt get on with it for various reasons but he was 2 so maybe would be better for smaller kids and I hate, hate, hate umbrella handles for some reason could never get comfy pushing it so ended up with a BJCM.

we have taken out xt on several holidays and it's been perfect. The covers are washable so ice cream isn't a problem, the hood extends for extra sun cover and although not the lightest of umbrella folds it has served DD1 very well (from 3 months to 3 years) it even travelled 1st class to Miami while we sat in cattle class! one of the few things I would buy again if starting from scratch

Asda does one for £25 which would do the job.

We have a black O Baby.

It has been brilliant for every day use and taking away, and it lies back flat (which when I was looking at Mclarens they didnt)
