Buggy for 2 toddlers & a baby...?

When DC3 arrives, I'll have a 2 year old and a nearly 4 year old, and sometimes I'll need them all to be riding. Before the buggy police jump in and say the eldest should be walking, let me point out that I cannot drive (for medical reasons), and therefore walk everywhere (long distances, up and down hills into town, in all weathers). He can and does walk, but sometimes he is just tired, and that's fair enough. This is reality, so no walking comments, please.

So, either a buggy that can seat all 3, or a double with a buggy board? Any advice? I have a Phil & Ted Sport now, but don't think you can attach a buggy board (unless the rider is v. short, they'd bump into the handlebar).

I'm going to suggest you look on eBay for a cheap triple

well, if you go for a triple then i would look on ebay for a mountain buggy triple.

they're built to last, and the seats are easily big enough to accomodate a 4 year old

alternatively look for a double that can accomodate a buggy board or something like the strolli swiss rider (bike type attachment) because you might find that you don't need the triple that long- that said, even if you didn't use oit long you ought to be able to make money back ebaying again

only thing with triples is they're so wide, but at least you do have a proper seat if the eldest is really tired

ABC buggy, although they are expensive new. Try Ebay to see if you can get one cheaper.

You could also try a double Nipper 360 and a buggy board for the 4 year old.

Anything with air tyres would probably be your best bet, easier to push with all that weight.

oooh yeh, ABC buggies are very nice, would also mean you could lose an extra seat when no longer needed

could you get a different double and attatch a ride-on stair?

works ok - they have the stair thing in big tescos...

actually you don't really need the ride on stair if you get a massive pram/pushchair - like this

and i can put a toddler on the hood, with baby lying flat, and another toddler in bucket seat on front (not pictured, but it is very secure).

How about getting a decent sized double like a mountain buggy and putting the two little ones in it when walking short distances and for longer walks or once the big one gets tired, put the newborn in a sling?
By the time little one is too big or too heavy for a sling the older one should be used to walking most places...

If not then I'd go for a 3 seater with one removable seat as I expect you'll be using 2 seats more often than you will be 3 seats iyswim

My friend had one and her two little ones went in the buggy and the next one up rode on the solid bit at the front. She must have been about 4yo at the time too and it was fine for her to sit on.

Both the ABC and mountain buggies look good - though the descriptions suggest the seats aren't suitable for toddlers over 3. Does anyone have experience of using them with older toddlers?

I like the look of the Nipper 360s too and one of those with a buggy board might work.
@prematureejoculation - i didn't know you could get sit-down buggy boards, that's an interesting idea. As is toddler riding on pushchair hood. I wonder if I could do that on my Phil & Ted - though can't quite imagine it being all that secure, perhaps the hood of the one you showed is stronger.

@felix - Very interested in the one you mention that your friend used where her 4yo rode on a bit in front - the link didn't work for me, can you tell me the name?

Thanks fel1x, that link works. I like the look of the Urban detour. Did your friend's dd's feet not trail on the ground when she sat on the front bit?

My friend's oldest dc rides (just for a rest)on the front triangle bit of her P and T, I've seen other kids doing it as well.

Could you not manage with a nipper 360 and rotate which children go in it. I have pushed one with a four year old and a 6mth old and you could barely tell there was a big child in it. Was still easy to push. you could get a good sling and a buggy board then you have lots of options. Your 2 year old will want to start walking soon so you need to be able to push it with one hand. which you can with the nipper. Looking at the buggy board site that also fits well.

Mmm, nipper does sound quite good. Will think about that. Will also try getting eldest to sit on the front 'triangle' of the P&T and see what he thinks. Though i'll wait till the snow has melted, perhaps, don't want to tip him into a snowdrift.

My eldest was not even 3.5 when DC3 was born - and I managed with a c. ombo of phil and teds and sling. He was huge too - 22 kilos at 3 - and he was fine on the front foot bit of a phil and teds - or at a pinch in the seat and dc2 in between his legs as much smaller

I always used to have a sling with me though so the bubs could be slung whilst I pushed the other two for emergencies - it's amazing what strength you find when you ahve to

I have buggyboards on a double nipper and the looked fine if you like buggyboards - have never got on with personally

The mothercare urban detour double was too wide to fit through my front door (as was nipper) and I found it very tippy as we have a kerb on a corner and that wouls always tip it
