M&P Sola - do I accept a repair?

Well, the Sola that I love(d) has broken. Bought in June, used every day admittedly but surely a wheel shouldn't have come off? The shop I bought it from has offered to repair it, but I'm a bit uneasy about that in case it's a design fault and will go wrong again.

So, am I entitled to push for a refund? Or at least a replacement new chassis?

Anyone else had the same problem? Rear wheel no longer stays 'clicked' on.

I would ask for a refund but check with consumer direct.

i had a broken pushchair once and i did have to send it back to be looked at and repaired if necessary, and i did speak to trading standards about it at the time i think

M&P actually do good repairs (they recondition shop stock for sale a lot) so I would accept one repair as long as they can offer a replacement unit while you're waiting for yours to come back.

I'm not sure you are entitled to ask for a refund atm, as it may be something that could be easily and properly fixed.

Happy to be proved wrong though.

I spoke to the M&P customer services line, who said that if I'd bought it from one of their shops they too would be offering a repair in the first instance.

I'm worrying that it may go wrong again after the one year warranty is up.

Will check out consumer direct. The shop are being accommodating and are loaning me a pushchair.

Agree to a repair on the condition that they re-start the warranty from the date of the repair, in effect restarting your warranty. Worth a shot.

i don't think you can ask for anything else. the shop are within their rights to repair rather than replace and they have given you a replacement to use in the meantime.

Blimey, Consumer Direct are great! Yes, legally the shop can provide a repair, a replacement or a refund, and they can choose which.

According to the fab lady at Consumer Direct though, even though the pushchair warranty is only a year, because of the price and the intended use (ie a pushchair up to toddler size) it should fulfill its purpose for several years, and if anything goes wrong in the next few years I will be able to return it again. Marvelous!
