Which buggy fits best in car footwell?

I need to buy another single buggy as the Mac XT I got (whilst fantastic) doesn't fit in the footwell of my car. I've got twins & the baby jogger city mini double for them lives in the boot at present. But increasingly just need a single for when I have 1 twin or quick trips when one of them walks.

So has got to fold up easily & small, accommodate a 2-3yo (twins are just 2) but easy to push.

I had thought of Mac Quest, Zia, Micralite. Not keen on the zapp. Needs to be cheapish so I ruled out a BJCM. My twins are not too huge or tall. I've had a quest before & it was fine, but don't know how much smaller it is than XT.

We'll probably use this one in future with Mac XT for family trips/holidays so I don't want something flimsy. It'll get a fair amount of use.

Any thoughts from pushchair queens?

Forgot to say I have a Galaxy, so the footwell is a reasonable size!

I know this may not be what you want to hear but a object can be 40 times it's weight In an accident and therefore a unsecured buggy in footwell could become a lethal object.

There is a very cheap bjcm on the for sale board if that would fit in boot along with double

What about a Baby Jogger City Mini? It folds in half rather than an umbrella fold and it makes it pretty compact.

My DS is almost 2 and has loads of room in it; the single handlebar makes it really easy to push one handed, and the three wheels make it really manoeverable.

LacksDaisies · 24/10/2010 23:23

oops, just realised you had ruled out the BJCM Blush

dietcoke, v.good point! Would much prefer to keep something in the boot (and hadn't even considered the safety issue tbh) but didn't think I could fit anything else next to the BJCM double I already keep in there. You think a single would fit next to it? Hmmm, I shall have another look. I have all the seats up in my galaxy though.

Maybe with wheels off? Although you aren't keen on zapp may be one that does fit in boot.

Don't want to faff with wheels on and off. Does zia fold up as small as zapp? I've just seen them out and about and don't like the look of them whereas zias appeal.

I have compared them side by side. Zapp much smaller. I never liked my zapp and zia has recline etc. Check out the reworked zias on manufacteurs site- nurseryvalue.com very cheap

thanks, diet coke! There's a zia on the for sale threads, but I like to do my research first!

I would definately try to find something which fits in the boot as having been in a couple of accidents you'd be amazed at the damage a bag of sweets or a water bottle could do, let alone a pushchair.

I the least Elf & Safety person you could find but that is definately one thing I would never compromise on.
