OK so how do the brakes work on my Maclaren XT

I bought a 2nd hand XT months ago and have never been able to get the brakes to work. They don't seem to want to push down, nor do they kick across like my volo. Have tried googling, but have had no luck.

The XT is about 4 years old. It doesn't have the extending hood if that helps.

Have managed all this time without needing the brakes, but obviously they would be useful! Also it is really bugging me the fact that I can't figure them out. Have had around 20 pushchairs and have never striggled with brakes before.

My XT is about 4 years old. You apply the brakes on the back wheels by applying downward pressure with your foot until they click. Disengage them by kicking them up from underneath.

Sounds like they may be broken if this doesn't work?

Have you given the back wheels and brakes a really good deep clean?

Sounds like there could be something stuck in there if they don't press down.

Clean it out thoroughly and use a lubricant. wilko's does one that's really good for about 99p.

Thanks both of you. I get the impression that they should work by pressing down so it sounds like something is stopping me from being able to push them down until they click. Right off to give them a much better inspection, might be back on later for more advice, or hopefully to let you know I have got them to work Smile.
