What's the best folding stroller under £100?

My trusty Maclaren Triumph is on the verge of giving up the ghost after three years of constant use. It served us well (though never the smoothest ride) and I might get a straight replacement but thought I'd have a quick look what else is out there.

It needs to seat a tall 14mo and fit a Lascal Maxi buggyboard for 3yo DS1. Needs to be easily foldable and light as it goes in and out of the car boot a lot, and sturdy as we walk miles every day and carry a lot of shopping!

Max budget £100, so any suggestions?

Second hand Maclaren. ebay

Hmm, not sure about second-hand, I'd just be swapping one used buggy for another, and besides I quite like unwrapping new things

If you can bear second hand, I'm selling a lovely quest, less than half price, very good condition..........

The Triumph is the worst Maclaren out of all of them so you might find that buying a second hand better model will be better anyway! But def a Maclaren. If your youngest is a girl, you can usually get the XLR's in pink cheap enough. Second hand doesn't always mean well used either - esp if you can find one local to you that you can look at first. All my pushchairs have been in tip top condition when sold.

I would get the Maclaren Quest too, and if you look on ebay sometimes someone will sell one new or v v v close to. I got ours BNIB for £100.

I'm selling this Quest it's really in very good condition, except the shape of the hood.

What has a Quest got over the Triumph, then?

I'm currently looking to replace my equally mistreated quest. I'm looking at either a britax or a silver cross because the maclaren doesn't support ds2's legs when he's asleep.

The quest has proper recline and more upright seat so not that slumped look. It also has adjustable leg rest.

There is also the xt you could look at. This is much bigger and roomier or as stated xlr

Has anyone tried an M&P Pulse? Seen them for sale for £84 here, looks quite nifty...

I have a Volo which has been horribly abused (been to festivals and dragged through the mud, bumped down countless stairs etc). No good if you want something that is going to support your DC's legs at right angles but I think it's the best quality you can get for the money

That does look good meg. I also have a volo, was great when ds1 was a bit older and didn't need to sleep in it and dh would happily carry it with the strap if ds wasn't in it but at 16 months ds2 needs something a bit more comfy.

My only reservation about buying a different brand is that it does seem to be maclaren strollers that friends have run into the ground but other ones have broken and needed replacing.

I have a quicksmart, which only cost £80 new. I think it's the best thing since sliced bread!!

Super easy fold, tiny when it is folded, has a recline and sun shade.

I wouldn't be without it!!

stick with a mac for a stroller!

agree with maxy on this one. Maclarens are the best strollers. Triumphs i don't personally like as the seat slupmped, no leg rest. must be hard going with buggy board too? i found quest a struggle with board too, xt easier.

I read a few reports on the silver x pop - that were not good. People saying they had snapped in half at the hinges.
Silver cross went into liquidation in 2002 - and the company name was bought out. I don't think it is the same "quality" company we associate the traditional "silver cross" name with today sadly.

Personally I would have bought a micralite superlite - but I'm not so sure how easy it is to fit the buggy board to it - they do their own Micralite buggyboard which is fab - but you'd have spent more - unless buying 2nd hand from ebay.

The large air tyres on the micralite and the handlebar that can be pushed one-handed would have swung it for me. I have a long stride and much prefer the ease of pushing and manouverability of the micralite.

I find the quest too short for me to push comfortably and I find the micralite makes lighter work of a heavy load it can take up to 25kg according to the instruction book - I've tried it with my 6y old - and it's soooo easy to push. Very light!
