can anyone explain bungalows to me?

sounds like a stupid question I know, but can anyone explain bungalows to me?

I thought it meant the house was all on one level, so no stairs. Simple.

BUT then I found this one which appears to be on 3 floors?!

can anyone explain?

That's a villa really rather than a bungalow, as you say it shouldn't have stairs. Looks nice though.

It's a bungalow CONVERSION, aka a chalet bungalow. They can have stairs. True bungalows can't. Simples

They have extended it to good advantage. Bungalows tend to be on larger plots and therefore are often more expensive. Developers often used to look for a basic bungalow to transform for a good profit.

Here in Singapore, a bungalow is ANY detached house.
