Compact/countertop dishwasher - what extra space needed? - rather urgent

After looking for months for a house to rent, we thought yesterday that we had found one, and that we just needed to fit a compact dishwasher (which good old John Lewis would plumb in)

However, when I went back today to measure, it wouldn't fit under the cupboards, and the kitchen tap would just stick into the space we needed.

If we are getting it plumbed in anyway, would that mean we could rotate the kitchen tap and get it out of the way? That is: currently, it sits at about 45 degrees to the sink itself, and we would want to turn it so it was at 180 degrees (giving an extra smidge of space).

Many thanks in advance for any quick replies!
