Choosing a new toilet - help please

Hi
I am choosing a new toilet for our en suite which is being built at the moment. I quite like some of the toilets that are quite modern but I know they are not standard toilet seat size. Do you think this will be a problem in the future? Are unusual shaped toilet seats available to buy?

Would definitely advise to get one with a soft-close seat/lid. If possible get them to give you a price for a spare (or include a spare in the price!) then you have no worries for a few years.

Good idea, I was thinking that. Are soft close really worth it then?

Yes - no night time clonking.
Also if you have a small ds (or any little male visitors) no likelyhood of trapping

100% get soft close.

Be brave and go to a plumbers merchants (where the plumbers go to buy their stuff) No show room but the counter staff know there stuff and will sell you something suitable. If you have posh shaped loo you usually have to buy the toilet seat to go with it.

I can recommned cityplumbing if there is one near to you.

I have toilets by Rocca, Ideal Standard and Twyfords in my house. All sold to me by cityplumbing.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to buy online and hadn't thought about going to plumbers merchants. Good point, will possibly be cheaper.

Duravit do a Phillipe Stark range which are beautiful - not cheap but beautiful - we are having Happy D ones from this range in our new bathroom and this is after looking through sooo much sanitary ware porn you wouldn't believe!

Wickes do an eco toilet (with soft close lid) for £130. We have one in our utility and will get another for the bathroom. Very small and neat and a complete unit.
