New sash windows?

We need to replace two windows at the back of the house and would like to put in sliding sashes, to fit in with the rest of the house.
We've had one quote so far, from a local builder who would order via a joinery co and it came to £1.5K for both (including fitting/glazing).
The windows are not huge, approx 1150mm wide x 1300mm tall.

I will get more quotes locally, but does anyone know an on-line supplier who might be cheaper?

TIA

That quote sounds good compared to what i paid about 3 years ago. The national companies might do a better job of matching your existing ones but will probably be more expensive. Things to consider are how wide the gap between the panes of glass is, what colour the surface between the panes of glass is (mine turned out to be silver and look more obvious than they need to), quality of brass bits, details- some companies pay more attention to matching existing windows, does quote include painting. If poss ask to see a sample or visit a house w locally made sashes.
