Cream carpet

How mad would I be to have cream carpet in the hall, stairs, landing & living room. I'm in the process of having an extention & have been offered cream carpet at a very reasonable price.

Mad. Very mad.

I used to have a cream carpet. It is now a very interesting patterned carpet with cream ptaches where furniture stands.

Never again! (it came with the house BTW, I didn't choose it!)

Mad. The house we've just moved into has cream carpet in the lounge, hall, stairs and landing. Well, at least, when it was new, it must have been cream...now it is an unattractive brown stained mess. Needless to say we are getting it changed...not for cream though.

Only if it is 100% plastic and can fit in the washing machine and be washed at 95% with strong washing chemicals.

It does look lovely for a very short time.
You could maybe use rugs/runners to take most of the daily use.
Also depends on lots of factors - do you have kids? pets? an industrial carpet cleaner you would be prepared to use on a weekly basis?

We have it, gorgeous carpet - for a few weeks. It doesn't look bad, but there are bits that look dingy that I don't think will look better without professional cleaning (even then they wouldn't stay nice for long) - stairs are the worst, even though we have a "shoes off" policy. We were very pleased when a friend spilt red wine on the downstairs carpet that Chem Dry couldn't clean off as we paid the difference and replaced it with wood on the insurance! (It was a quite expensive carpet in the first place)

Wish we'd gone for more of an oatmeal colour, or a dark beige.

We do. We have it all cleaned every 6 months, otherwise it looks manky...

ThinkingAboutSchemes · 29/06/2010 12:26

We had ours cleaned when we moved in 6 months ago & already they need doing again. Maybe a darker beige would be better?

We rent a house with good quality cream carpets through-out. It is a misery trying - and failing- not to trash them. All the children hear is can't do this, can't have that... because of the cream carpet.

Thanks for that, I'll look for a darker one I think.
