DIY Virgin laying laminate!

We live in rented but had enough of the minging carpet in DS room so we want to take up carpet and lay a cheap laminate. We should be moving in a year or so's time so just want something cheap doesn't matter about longevity as its not our house and landlord is not interested in replacing anything.

What do we need to know? and how do we know how many packs to get for a 4x4m room?

First check landlord is ok for you to do it, or keep the minging carpet so you can put back down when you move!
If you choose one level up from the really cheap (v thin!), it will be easier to lay - B&Q are very reasonable and you can just pop and get it.
It will say on the pack how much m2 it covers but I bet you could do it for

we are doing it! bought the cheapy stuff but with underlay trimming etc still came to £140! luckily landlord is paying half.
