How much to fill in a swimming pool?

I viewed a house today which was lovely but had the most ridiculous swimming pool in the garden.

Actually it was a nice pool but took up half the garden and we don't really want a swimming pool (would rather have a lawn). The house was not grand in the slightest and have no idea why the owners thought it warrented a pool

How much would we have to budget to get someone to fill it all in?

Why do people do things like this??? I;m presuming the house is in the UK and you don't live in the tropics?

Anyway I have no idea how much it would be to fill it in but if it was me I would probably be making noise to the EA about how its such a lovely house 'apart from the sweimming pool, what a shame' etc and see if that results in any offers of filling it in/knocking price of filling it in off the price. Bit cheeky perhaps but I think Id be tempted to ask.

Yes, we did a job recently, the job comprised:

To Take out and remove off site existing swimming pool lining and plastic strip edging.

Breaking up existing swimming pool base and side walls

Fill in pool with sub soil & make ground good

£3300 + VAT.

There was a lot of back filling and compacting. A few machines. We didnt reseed as at the time it was February.

Hope that helps.
