Watching with interest, as we are looking at same.

I guess for a start we need to be in cm rather than inches! Im only 27 but i measure everyhting in inches rather than cm!

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 12:05

195cm high

60 deep

not sure what you are asking exactly but the Ikea Home Planner / kitchen planner software tool has Billy Bookcases unser the workspace/bookcases category so you could use that to have a play around.

QSincognitoErgoSum · 24/06/2010 13:02

It is nOT going to be 60 deep. Not unless you are putting two back to back as a room divider.

they re 30 cm deep

Ponders · 24/06/2010 13:12

OP's space is 60cm deep!

Billy does only come in 30 though I think, it doesn't do extra deep base units

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 13:13

The Alcove is 6o deep on the short part of the L

didnt know about the room planner. Thanks

ah, I see (actually I dont)
I thought the op was interpreting the billy sizing....

I will bow out, because I have clearly no clue.

notasize10yetbutoneday · 24/06/2010 13:24

Can you definitely doors for Billy (love that we are talking about him like a person)? I couldnt see any on the website, unless Im being dense?

fruitshootsandheaves · 24/06/2010 13:26

I have a couple of Billy Bookcases what do you need to know?

SparkyUK · 24/06/2010 13:29

They definitely do doors. here is the buying guide that lists all components:
www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/customer_service/buying_guides.pdf/BILLY.pdf

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 13:29

I thought we saw doors on them in store ...

What I want to know which I need in my space ?

L shape 60ish on the short part ,165ish on the long part. 195ish high.

one of mine has doors on to hold all the clutter in. IIRC we ordered the doors as we wanted the beech colour and hey didn't have them in the shop. The other one we have is white and just used as a bookcase.

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 13:38

We will have to order all on line , need a chair bed & some other stuff too. Nearest Ikea is about 4 hours away so I can't just pop & look

OP posts:
HonestyBox · 24/06/2010 13:47

So when you say 195ish high - how exact? So you you couldn't fit this which is 202 high?

notasize10yetbutoneday · 24/06/2010 13:50

Fruits, are the doors on yours transparent? I was looking for solid doors to hold all the clutter in

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 13:51

Possibly. Will have to measure with a proper tape measure rather than dds 30cm ruler & I can't reach the top so I estimated

I have a feeling we looked at that before and it would be tight.

Cant get to the tool box til dh gets home as my bump won't fit through the gap !

OP posts:
nymphadora · 24/06/2010 13:52

The room planner crashed my computer too so no nearer with that

OP posts:
HonestyBox · 24/06/2010 13:54

So, they only come in 106 0r 202 high so might not be right for your space? Click on the buying guide by sparky above, it's really good.

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 14:00

Nyone know how much space the corner one would take?

Would a 40 across one then a corner one fit in the 60?

OP posts:
notasize10yetbutoneday · 24/06/2010 14:00

OP have you looked at the other ranges eg LACK and something like EXPEDITE (not that but something like)

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 14:02

Then 3X 40cm ones across + the corner one?

OP posts:
HonestyBox · 24/06/2010 15:09

The Lack wall shelves are really nice, they come in 30, 110 and 190 wide, they have hidden fixings so it just looks like a shelf coming out of the wall (no bracket etc).

In terms of shelving systems, I think you need to look at Besta instead of Billy, there are far more combinations, loads of doors, loads more different base units.

these are the base units. these are the doors. I can't find the buying guide though.

I've got the Besta one, hth

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 17:30

Can't have wall shelves the Walls are v difficult to drill into so stuff has to go on at random points!

OP posts:
nymphadora · 24/06/2010 19:44

Slightly more accurate measurements

210high 70 deep 185 wide. Loads of room for the tall ones

Thanks for the Besta tip Honesty box, they seem more suited to our needs than Billy.
