Hob & hood

Do they have to match in size? Can you really tell if a 70cm has a 60cm hood over? I think my mind is slowly dying as I hit more and more kitchen questions....

That would be a 70cm hob with 60cm hood over...

I have a 70 cm hob and a 70 cm hood on a 90 cm pan drawer. There is therefore a gap between the hood and the wall units of 10cm either side. This is supposed to be there for looks and ease of cleaning I believe (plus maybe safety?)

My 70cm hob will be on an 80cm pan drawer but it is on a long run or units/worktop with plenty of space either side.

I just can't work out whether it is really necessary to have a 70cm hood - can't I make do with a 60cm one or will it be really obvious? There are no wall units on that section of wall so the hood will kind of stand out. Plus I wanted an 80cm wide splashback behind the hob...

Sigh - I wish the Ikea freebie planner was the new fancy version so I could really try out how it will look...

I had a 100cm range cooker and only had 90cm hood and it looked fine so am sure it would be ok if it was fitted perfectly central

You will have a lot more choice if you go for a 60 or 90 cm hood. I really struggled to get one that I like that was 70cm.

Or you could go for something like these

cece · 23/06/2010 22:51

This is my one. Quite quiet and no named badge on it so it goes with all my Neff hob and oven

Thanks for those links - love those boxy ones, but trying to economise!

For some reason, way back in the misty beginnings of kitchen planning I'd discounted CDA appliances - but that is a MUCH nicer price than the Bosch equivalent...

I am very pleased with it. The man from that website - who I phoned to get a discount on multiple items - recommended it. I was all set to buy a Neff one so I saved loads of money!

The only thing I would say about the glass on the hood is that DH bumped his head quite badly on it when it was first fitted, as he didn't see it!
