Suggestions for a new oven

We are having a kitchen extension done and will be having the Wickes Heritage grey kitchen put in.

We need an oven and would like to buy a double one but have a budget of around £800.00. We would preferably like a silver oven. Do ovens come with cooker hoods or do you need to get that separately and if so does it need to be the same make as the oven?

Thanks for your suggestions

Cooker hoods come seperately and don't need to be the same model - same width would be good though.

I think there was a thread a few weeks back about ranges which might give you some ideas for which to get

not sure about the oven but i'm about your kitchen

You can have built in (these are eye level) and built under which I believe are the ones under the worktop with a hob on top. With the built in oven then you have the hob elsewhere on the worktop.

I'd go for a neff but I have no idea how much they are now have had two my friends have them and they are fantastic.

Hello Tigerlion

We have just done the same thing - with the Heritage Grey kitchen. I found a wonderful place called Roy Waring South which does unboxed but perfect appliances. We got a Neff single oven and a (also Neff) combi oven which we mounted above it. Both fab, and we saved masses by getting them unboxed (but they still have their 2-year guarantee). We got a separate hob (mounted on the worktop)and put the hood over that. Both of these were Bosch, but you don't have to have the same make as long as the hood is same width or wider. They all come in a variety of standard widths, so there'll be no problem there.

I'm going for Bosch as they came out much better than Neff in the Which reports - but obviously I have no idea what they'll be like in RL. Zanussi come out pretty badly in reviews but I bought a 15yr old freestanding zanussi cooker from a friend ten years ago and it has been fab.

Do you want a stand alone, a built in or built under (under the worktop). Do you want a seperate hob?

We have just bought a hotpoint openspace as a friend was dissapointed that her built under double oven meant she had two small ovens that you can't really fit a big turkey in or similar. Haven't used it yet so can't comment on how good it is!
