resealing round the baths

All the sealant around both our baths has come loose. Can I just buy some sealant from B & Q and do it myself or is it trickier than it looks so needs a builder to do it?

If you can do it yourself - any tips on brands or keeping it neat? I'm talking about the join from bath panel to floor.

No pick it all off and reseal.I like the sealant I get from Sainsburys as I find it easy to apply. Practice a bit first if its not right peal it off and start again. Smooth over with wet finger or damp cloth.

You can get some sealant remover from B&Q if the old stuff doesn't come off easily.

Put lots of washing up liquid around the join to make it easier to wipe off stray bits. Fill the bath to the top before doing the sealant - this will weigh bath down a bit and make the gap larger. Try to keep bath filled overnight while sealant dries.

We're just getting this sorted at long last...

Do you really have to wait the full 24hrs it says on sealant bottles (or the 24hrs before to make sure the surfaces are really dry that my dad insists on)? I don't know if I can manage without my daily shower!

Gentleness - Have the shower first, then do it straight away afterwards. then you can still have one next day?
