This isn't for me but for elderly relatives. They are trying to sell their house and had a good offer, ready to exchange contracts etc and it all fell through when the buyer got wind that their next door neighbour was less than desirable.
Relatives haven't had anything formal with him but he is a nasty bit of work and is driving them out really. They have checked and don't need to declare anything formally but are now scared the house will never sell because of him.
They have only had it on market for 2 months but are panicking and have been in touch with a quick sell agent who advises will sell it in 6-8 weeks if they drop it by £10 thousand. Not sure they can really afford this.
My suggestion was that they use this as a last gasp attempt to sell if they haven't done it through usual way - maybe leave house anothe 3-6 months? Or should they accept their neighbour will put people off and take the money now?
A bit of a dilemma and really feel for them as they are not well versed in buying and selling and all the pitfalls it entails.
