Window Guard?

I am having trouble finding something to guard my DS bedroom window. We are about to put in bunks and I'm so scared of a fall through the window. We are on the first floor.
I need something which will cover the whole window (ideally?) because of the height of the bunk beds.

It has been suggested getting a secondary glaze - would anyone else recommend this??

we were going to, but haven't yet, get some of these

Are these strong enough? it looks like a mesh screen, which I'm not sure will be enough?

Perspex secondary glazing would do it. We had that in DS's room for ages. It does encourage mould growth on the windows though, so needs to be cleaned really regularly.

whydobird - did you get a custom made one or a kit?

Do you remember the cost involved? or any recommendations for a company?
