offers...anyone buying a house?

how much are you offering - below asking price? the asking price....i just took a cut on my own house and have made several offers - ok cheeky in some cases..but i thought it was a 'buyers market' and we were in a recession!? wtf.

Dh is trying to buy a weekday crash pad. Apparantly buyers for flats v thin on the ground so he put in a cheeky offer 15% of asking and it was declined. He might up a slight bit but vendors overpaid 5 yrs ago and are sticking heads in sand- only offer they have had in almost 3 months..guess we will have to wait and see. But as we are in no chain, finance in place and can complete asap its strange to see this reluctance to do a deal.

When we bought last year we played the wait but don't up the offer game and it worked as we paid 8% under asking- and sold ours at only 1% under asking too!! Yes we are hard nosed I guess!!

I reduced mine twice over 6 months to keep in line with drops so asking price was already 15% lower than original price.

I took 5% drop from asking price but just glad to be rid ( hopefully)

We are paying 5% below asking price. We accepted an offer for 5% below asking price. However in reality we got about 5% more than we wanted for it, so are quite happy. It's a game!

I've just offered on a house - it had already been reduced by 6% by the time I went to view it, and I have offered another 4% off that...

There's been a bit of to-ing and fro-ing - I have come up a bit and they have come down, so now there is a difference of only £1k. I'm sticking on my price though, as I don't see why I should stump up an extra grand - they are the ones who want to sell, and yes I would like to buy but I can find another house if I need to. So roll on Monday when I will get the EA's feedback!
