DH and I are looking to move away from London in the near future, and were wondering about moving to Harrogate? Is it good for mums with young chilren? (two boys), what are the schools like? are there lots of activities/todder groups?

What are the "good" areas etc?

Any information you could give us would be really appreciated.

We have just moved to Harrogate from Leeds and we love it.
Ds1 is in a lovely school and ds2 goes to a toddler group most days. They are all over the place though.
We have even braved soft play! Both boys loved it.
There are lots of parks here too and the valley gardens is good too,
Can't give you any advice on areas although my Mum and Mil live on South side and say thats the better side.

I'm hoping to move to Harrogate from Leeds too. I agree the south side is nicer - near Hornbeam Park station, but not sure about other areas. Think the northern area and near the hospital is a bit cheaper.

Harrogate is lovely. Quiet, but plenty to do. Lots of open spaces. Plenty of mums groups. Near to the dales and moors, and close to Leeds for city life.

Went to school in Harrogate. Really lovely but very expensive to buy a house there. It is the 'Golden Triangle' after all.

I started off in Burn Bridge...just south of Harrogate, and now my Dad lives just to the east of Harrogate. Spent the inbetween time in Leeds.

If circumstances were different, I could definitely see myself living there. Unlikely to happen though.
