Heritage paint colour for front door?

I'm looking for a bit of inspiration for a colour for my front door and I'm hoping all you MN paint colour enthusiasts may be able to lend a hand.

I live in a four-bedroomed red brick Edwardian semi. The exterior paintwork is black and cream and the stained glass on the front door has yellow, green, purple and red in it.

I'm thinking one of those muted heritage colours would look smart and in-keeping with the house. DH and I like greeny, greyey, blues. Ideas so far - Farrow and Ball 'Green Blue', 'Cooking Apple Green','Stone Blue', and Little Greene Paint's 'Salix' and 'Celestial Blue'.

Open to suggestions

Ooh, I love F&B Cooking Apple Green and think that would go really nicely with your red brick. That's what I'd go for.

Our house sounds similar to yours (with a black and white tiled path and stained glass in the front door.) We have F&B Railings, a sort of dark bluey grey, (quite a bit darker than your other ideas though - looks almost black on the paint card.) I did the front gate in it too; I know it looks nice because a man knocked on the door the other day to ask what colour it was!

Thanks BettyButterknife - Cooking Apple Green is one of the front runners.

barbarapym - your house sounds lovely and I'm jealous at your tiled path (ours is bog-standard concrete!). Just looked at Railings on my F&B colour chart and I like it but I think I'm fixed on a lighter colour.

The Little Greene Paint Company is good too, they do colours for English Heritage.

But OP, I think you need less choice rather than more! Cooking Apple Green, it'll be lovely

Thank you for all your advice. Just need to convince DH to go for Cooking Apple Green (surprisingly, he has strong opinions on this issue!).
