Does anyone have an under counter fridge?

Not sure if this belongs in here.... we've got an under counter fridge in our kitchen (was here when we moved, kitchen is of such a design it would be very hard to accommodate a freestanding fridge without redoing the whole kitchen) and it's rubbish. Water keeps accumulating in the bottom of it. I think that means there's something wrong with it, so we're looking to replace. However, all under counter fridges have the veg drawer under another shelf, ie if you put things on this shelf you can't get to the veg drawer. They all seem to have the same arrangement, which is rubbish as you have to move everything on the bottom shelf every time you want to get to the veg drawer.

If you have an undercounter fridge, how do you get round this, or do you just move everything off the bottom shelf every time you want to get something out of the bottom drawer?

I have an under the counter fridge. Veg drawer is at the bottom and yes you put things on top of it, but there's a glass 'sheet' on top that things sit on. To get veg out you just slide the drawer out. No rearranging needed.

Oh, ours doesn't slide, so maybe that's the problem. It is a bit past it really. That and I do pile the stuff up on the bottom so as soon as I attempt to slide the glass shelf everything that's sitting on it drops straight in to the veg drawer.

We've got an under counter fridge (tiny kitchen to go with our tiny house!) and our veg drawer slides out the same as SoH so you can leave things on the glass shelf above.

I saw plenty of them with this design when we bought so probably just need to shop around a bit.

Ours is like this. Click on the larger image to see inside. Just make sure it's a drawer and not fixed. Sounds ridiculous that you can't pull it out. Lack of joined up thinking the day they designed that.

see SoH that actually looks a lot better design than ours. this is similar to ours If you click on the larger image you can see the veg drawer is actually behind the grill thing at the front, so it doesn't slide out. It's fixed in place, and it's a pain to get to. When you slide the glass shelf above it everything on that shelf drops in to the veg drawer. Blooming stupid for such an expensive brand.

Yes, we have this problem with our under-counter fridge - in theory, you can slide out the glass sheet covering the veg, but in practice, you can only put solid, low things on that, i.e. not glass bottles, jars etc, because they wobble and shake and you have to reach awkwardly over them to get at the veg. We get round this by... not using the veg drawer.

That's not really very helpful, is it?

On the other hand, we went for a smaller fridge in our new kitchen than our old one, and it's been a big improvement - much less of a problem with food being forgotten and going off. In the new system, either the food in the fridge is being eaten today or tomorrow, or it's in the freezer. You'd be amazed at what you can freeze!

our veg drawer is easy to pull out independently and the fridge was a cheap one, actually we have 2 under counter fridges and this is just not a problem on either of them. Go shopping and give some the veg box test before you decide!
