Farrow and Ball Paint for Space / Solar System Bedroom

Hi All,

As a follow on to my previous thread, what colours would the F&B fans amongst you suggest for my 4 year old son's space themed bedroom?

So far I am pondering using two or three colours, possibily a neutral, plus something like blazer and/or pitch blue on one wall. I may use another colour to paint a set of drawers. I'm open to any suggestions though

His room is fairly bright but doesn't get much direct light. The flooring is wooden (mahogony), so is fairly dark with a reddish tint. All the furniture is cream. The house is an old stone built cottage.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate your support as dh's response to any suggestions I am making is that 'colours don't excite me'!

well, i think farrow and ball colours are period so probably wouldnt have a colour which would create a "solar" atmosphere... why dont you ring one of the stores, they are usually very good.

why don't you just do one wall in this mural

glencoe · 24/05/2010 10:02

Thanks PrimroseCrabapple, that mural looks super. Unfortunately I haven't got a wall that I could put it on {sad}. I am hoping just to paint the walls then accesorize with decals and other items.

Not F&B but I am thinking of using a colour called Pure Sea from Homebase's Sanctuary range when I next repaint my ds's room. Sort of a sludgy blue.

I saw a space-themed room in a mag once where one of the walls was painted silver...

I wouldn't use F&B - it is hard to paint with and a bloody ridiculous price unless you specifically wnat one of their colours. I'd look for a range with lovely dark midnight blues, and silver.
or
Ceiling: black matt, walls: silver and cobalt?

i've painted a room in bog standard wickes paint in airforce blue. it's a really nice colour not too dark or light - would be nice with some spacey theme

HerHonesty, I've taken your advice and phoned one of the Farrow and Ball stores. They were fantastic and gave me several ideas of suitable colours. Great idea!

Well, after all that I didn't go for Farrow and Ball. The first time I have not used F&B in my current house, and we have been here 10 years!

I went instead for the new National Trust range from Fired Earth and....I never thought I would say this....it is better than F&B

And the colours work fantastic is a space theme room so I am a happy momma with a happy boy
