for my lounge? Needs to be big (about 200x250cm), quite thick and soft for DS to crawl on, and not dark (as the lounge is quite dark anyway) but at the same time not show dirt too much (or easy to clean anyway). We have brown sofas and pine coloured floorboards. Something fairly modern I think. Any ideas? Have looked at JOhn Lewis rugs but not v inspired.

Look on the dunelm mill website. There are lots of polypropylene rugs on there that are easy to clean and in different sizes. We have a plain beige one that cleans with a soapy dishcloth and looks very nice for the money. There are some thicker ones that can be put in the washing machine if you check the reviews.Alternatively Ikea is the only other place i can think of that does rugs.

Will have a look on there, thanks.

Have a look at Applerugs, we wanted one from M&S but they are always out of stock, got one almost identical on this site. They do 100% wool ones for quiet a reasonable price.

don't get one from dunelm mill!

i did, and it's wearing really badly. it's under our dining table, i got it about 3 or 4 months ago and it's already twisted and gone a bit misshapen and the edges are all fluffy and fraying

I have had mine for two years and it is the third one in that style i have had and it is not worn at all[and i have 4 kids,3 of whom are young!].I have cleaned everything off this including paint and ink and it still looks nice[is plain beige].Dunelm probably have rugs made by several different manufacturers - so i guess the thing is to examine the reviews online before you buy!.

Woven Ground's website has a huge number of rugs. They have a shop in our town and I've bought 3 from them and been happy with them all.

Gorgeous, sustainable, local, traditionally produced, machine-washable... and brilliant prices!

(I'm a bit of a fan. )
