Decorating Boy's Bedroom - Solar System / Space Theme Ideas

Hi All,

I am not sure if this is the best place to put this one, so please let me know if not!

I am about to decorate my 4 year old son's bedroom. He/his dad would love a space theme.

I am trying to find some good quality, long lasting, realistic solar system stickers but I'm not having much look with my searching so far. Does anyone have any ideas or experience that could help me?

I am also interested in accessories and have been looking at the Uncle Milton's moon in my room and solar system, which both look interesting. Does anyone have these and recommend them, or not, before I splash out?

Thanks very much for your advice in anticipation.

Nephews have the solar system & moon in my room. I think they're really cool, albeit not quite as fab as the Uncle Milton website makes them look!! I think sis got them from Argos?

glencoe · 20/05/2010 22:21

Thanks JetLi, it sounds like they are worth a look

I've just seen the retro planes stickers on the Cath Kidston website:

www.cathkidston.co.uk/c-115-wallpaper.aspx

They look fab to me, and would probably go well in the house as it is a very old cottage. The stumbling block is that dh really wants a space theme. DS doesn't seem too bothered either way!

I'm still struggling to find any decent solar system / space stickers that aren't too babyish or cheesy. Any recommendations?

I don't know about stickers, but have you seen the very life-like moon light fitting in Habitat kids section, designed by Buzz Aldrin?

glencoe · 20/05/2010 22:40

Hi Pannacotta, no I hadn't seen it but I've just had a look on their website. How cool is that!!

I'm going to get the light as soon as the DSs' new room is decorated, think it looks great (have seen it in the shop and it is very realistic)...

These are quite nince but are quite pricey for wall stickers

We have these ones:

and they are great! They are also removable.
My son loves them!
We also have the Moon in my room and a hanging planet mobile which look great.

glencoe · 21/05/2010 17:05

Thanks everyone. There are some fantastic ideas here.

Twirl, I think the ones that you have are my favourite. Which hanging planet mobile have you got? I've seen a few but it's so hard to tell what the quality is like.

I have also seen some nice bedding from the dorma freckles range here:

They really do glow in the dark.

MrsTicklemouse · 21/05/2010 23:52

oops just realised pannacotta had already mentioned that, that will teach me to be so hasty!

glencoe · 31/05/2010 21:49
