Moving to Glasgow (Kilmacolm) - what is there to do/child care/ schools etc

Wasn't sure which topic to put this under but we are moving (back) to Scotland (after a gap of about 16 years - dh is Scottish). We have two children (dds 6 and 1). We have decided on Kilmacolm as our new home and was wondering if any local mums had any advice about childcare, school (saw both private and state schools on recent visit), after school clubs, sports, anything really to do with living in the area with kids. Sorry to be so vague but there is so much to consider when you move with kids and I am just looking for general, honest advice/suggestions!

Don't know about Kilmacolm well but Glasgow itself has loads to do for children like Glasgow Green and Kelvingrove museum.
What private schools where you considering? There are quite a few in central Glasgow that are pretty good.

Kimacolm is nicely placed IMO for both the city commute but also for family days out at the weekend to Wemyss bay and Largs or go to Gourock for the ferry to Dunoon and Argyll Forest Park.

Thanks for that. I am now also looking at Bearsden as Kilmacolm very expensive for housing (not that Bearsden is cheap but seems like you can get a bit more for your money!). We lived in the West End 17 years ago and Bearsden is also closer to that area.
To be honest, we will probably use the state schools wherever we live. One reason we had liked Kilmacolm is that we think it might be esier to make friends in a smaller place where Bearsden or similar suburbs of Glasgow are so big that they can seem a bit impersonal.
