Calling style gurus! Kitchen colours

We're going to put our house on the market and will redecorate the kitchen. We will keep the painted cupboards a shade of white/off white. We have wooden worktops and blackish slate floor. We are (delusionally) aiming for a Harvey Jones/Fired Earth sort of vibe.
So what is a good colour for the walls?
I had thought of a pale blue, but think that it may end up looking cold.
Or a creamish/greenish shade?
Or do you think if you're trying to appeal to as many people as possible just a warmish offwhite is best?
Any suggested paint colours? F&B Bone looks a bit too dark / dingy on my tester patch... Skimming Stone - okish, Slipper satin possibly too yellowy/pinky for me?
Anyone found a colour that works really well with slate?
If you were buying a house what would you love to see in a kitchen / what would put you off?

SarahBeeny
Don't you have loads of people helping you with this?
How about a light duck egg?

''Overtly Olive www.dulux.co.uk/colour/overtly_olive''

Tis my fave atm, looks greyish on here but more greeny IRL, goes well with white / cream tones and would be fabby with slate.

you could try Dulux Ivory Lace (which is a neutral creamy colour with a tiny hint of yellow) or one called "Timeless" - if you are hoping to put house on the market go for neutral shades throughout, and do not personalise it with the colours you like. Neutral colours make rooms appear larger too and more light and spacious !!!!
The above two colours look fantastic with slate !!! Good luck and happy painting !!!

Oh thank you. Am planning a paint shopping trip to add to my huge collection of testers... more for the list!!
Do you think it's best to steer away from cool colours with slate? Anything to avoid with slate?

I've just done my kitchen with Homebase kitchen paint in Putty. It's a great colour - varies according to light from a cool cream to a taupey shade (but not dark, I promise).

I've also used a lot of Farrow & Ball strong white, which is a very pale grey, not too cold.
