Our kitchen is being re-papered. Decorator hung 2 lengths upside down (it is a floral pattern) and pre-cut lots of other lengths incorrectly. I have just had to order another 4 rolls.
He is refusing to take resonsibility because he says the paper "came off the roll that way!" and it is completely unheard of for a decorator to have to unroll the lot and cut lenghts from the other end. You ALWAYS hang paper the way it comes off the roll, and it must be a manufacturing fault. Apparently. Spke to suppliers who say this is complete bollocks.
From the Wallpaperdirect.co.uk guide to DIY paper hanging, first paragraph:
To start with, only cut one length at a time. Ensure the pattern is the right way up and never assume that the outside end of the roll is the top - it is not always so!
What the hell can I do about this? Anything? He won't pay for the extra rolls.
