Best alternative to real wood flooring?

We need new flooring to go through our kitchen, hall and dining room. I would love to have real wood in a dark oak colour but we have been put off by the maintenance issues and also the price, as we are going to move in a couple of years anyway and don't want to spend a fortune if we can possibly help it. Are there any other flooring options out there that genuinely look like real wood and/or does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks

We recently go some engineered oak put down and it it lovely. It was from Howdens and the guys who put in in really rated it in terms of quality.

Its very easy to maintain. I have steam mop and it is wonderful!!

We have Karndean - posh lino basically - which is laid in floorboard size strips and we love it! V easy to maintain (vac and a Flash power mop) and we've had several people say they thought it was real wood. Can't rate it high enough

I would always go for bamboo flooring!

We have this engineered oak floor throughout downstairs in the brushed and natural waxed finish. Love it, love the width of the boards and its very practical.

Have a look at Spacia as well. Similar to Karndean.
