3 bed small terrace with concrete floors at ground level so all done via the 1st floor it was nearly £6k (I think), we are in the SE

The kitchen has all been surface mounted though, the rest of the house it's all in the walls IYSWIM

what size is your house?

mumdebump · 30/04/2010 20:29

4 beds, 4 baths/WC, kitchen, utility, dining room, living room, loft space + garage & outdoor lighting. It's going to be £££££ isn't it? It doesn't need doing, it's just that there aren't enough sockets and lights and things are in the wrong places.

Then you shouldn't need a complete re-wire. It should be possible to put on spur circuits to supply extra sockets, and it is messy but cheap to move an over head light. Adding wall lights is a bit more complex, but a lot of this is DIY level stuff.
There are great books out there who will explain it in detail. I totally rewired my house based on one of them! (tho I do have a background in theatre electrics)

No, we'd rather completely re-wire as then we know it's all done properly.
