average selling time

what is the average time it takes to sell a house, we have had 17 viewings in approx 5 months.

it isn't helped by the fact that 3 other houses are up for sale as well now in our close. We are priced in the middle of the others.

also we were considering moving into rented as we think we would be silly to turn down a sale if we haven't found anywhere to go, we have looked but so far the houses we liked have now sold.

what are your thoughts on both of these issues.

So hard to say - I watch the market closely in our village and surrounding area. In the last few months a lot of property has come onto the market but few have sold yet. However, a lovely house in good order came on last week and has sold within a few days.

I guess it could be the competition from other houses in your street - people might wonder why you are all selling at the same time? Moving into rented if you get an offer might be a good thing - I can't see prices going up that much in the short/medium term.

Good luck - our house took 6 months to sell and seemed forever!
