What colour rug should I get???????

I have varnished floorboards in the living room, I (and the DS's) want to get a small(ish) rug to put in front of the fireplace......but I don't know what colour to get

Floorboards - dark
Sofas - black
Walls - 3 beige, 1 burgundy/red wine sort of colour.

It looks nice as it is, but I really want a rug, gets lots of light in there so the dark floorboards and black sofas don't make it feel dark at all.

What sort of colours would you choose?

i'd choose a mix of all those colours....which happen to be the same colours i have in my lounge too!!

my rug is beige with chocolate brown swirls but its larger than a hearth type rug....argos few years ago

next have some nice ones usually

A burgundy one would probably suit....not sure what colour would contrast though

Have had a quick look online and found a few which i think are nice. not sure what you budget is so im not sure if these will be ok or not.

hope those help a little. Depends on how dirty you expect it to get. If its going to get trashed then I think you should go with either a dark brown or red. I also reckon some sort of pattern would be good. I think my fave is the red next one with the stripes. hth x

john lewis do some nice ones although they are a little pricey.

do you like more traditional or contempory style?

quite like the contemporary ones - been having a look on the Very website most of those are more in my price range I think...... (plus I already have an account with them and get it delivered )

which of these rugs would YOU choose

I like the Santo Rug...even though it might be difficult to keep clean. I would avoid red given the red wall.

i like the nissa rug - your room looks like it could take a bit of pattern as everything else looks quite plain and the colours in the rug would tie everything together.

only thing is it is difficult to tell if the red in the rug will match your red wall.
