How do I reconnect gas/electricity in a previously repossessed property?

Just about to complete on a repossessed flat which has been empty for several months so all services switched off. Do I need to know who the previous supplier was? Or can I just pick any company? Can it all be done over the internet or does someone have to come out and physically do something? And what about the water? Hoping someone can help.

I had the same situation, twice! Just ring up who you want your supplier to be, give them currecnt meter readings and they will do the rest. Be prepared for letters from old suppliers addressed to 'the occupier' for outstanding money once they see the supply has been connected again.

Ah, that sounds easy. Thank you.

You may have to have someone come out. One of the properties at work had the gas disconnected due to non-payment at work and the gas company took the meter away and capped off the supply pipe. Took us ages to sort out.

Obviously you will be able to see if the meters are not there though
