Im fed up of waiting for DH to do it, so Im doing it myself.

Im not sure of the order of things so is this right.

Emulsion ceiling
undercoat skirts and doors
Emulsion walls
gloss skirts and doors.

DH has took DSs camping for the weekend, I cant ask him because when he actually does any decorating, he is a bloody perfectionist, hence why Ive never done it before. But he wants to move and is point blank refusing to decorate. But we have paint there and the paintwork is manky so I just want it to look clean.

I do the gloss before the emulsion on the walls because emulsion is eaiser to wipe off dried gloss paint than the other way around.

Start with a bucket load of sugar soap to clean off the grease, particularly important in a kitchen.

Make sure you have paint appropriate for the kitchen, I expet you know that Dulux et al do a special kitchen and bathroom range.

You might need to sand the woodwork too, to create a "keyed" surface for the new paint - it doesn't have to be sanded right back, just a light sanding with a fine grain sandpaper (120 or higher)

Apart from that I would say you have the order of painting correct.
