Anyone had good (or terrible!) removers? We're moving 2 miles down the road (from New Malden). Can't afford top quality Pickfords types, don't want moaning man with van, just a local, polite(ish) and reliable company. Thanks for any tips.

We have used Goddards in Brentford a few times and they were good each time. They might be a bit out of your way though.

We recently moved from Kingston to New Malden and used F Smith and Sons (based in Croydon) after seeing a recommendation on here. I don't know if they were the cheapest but they worked really hard, didn't complain once and reassembled all cots, beds etc. They even plumbed in our washing machine even though they technically weren't supposed to.

We had the packing service as well which was money well spent - was great to be able to live in the flat exactly as we were until the day before we moved.

Hope the move goes smoothly!

We moved in SW13, and used Trek - they were great. Efficient, polite, friendly and nothing got broken.

I asked this question on here a few months ago, and went with James removals - and they were lovely!

I would throughly recommend Swift and French in Kingston. They moved us from Surbiton to Cardiff. The packing service was brilliant, they were the cheapest of the 3 quotes I got and they were really good at the unloading end as well. We got them from the phone book but were v pleased.

I have just recently used a company called Greenwoods Removal and Storage who agreed to carry out all my packing and move me to an address 5 minutes away within one day. In the end they could only give me 3 men and one of them went off sick after half a day. Later, I found that he had no experience of packing and worked on bodies at Greenwoods Funerals. The move took three days and they left us without any bedding for the first night. A lot of the packing was mis-labelled and I had wash clothes which were packed with make-up. I would suggest only go with recommended companies.

We used simply removals.

They dont atcually wrap and box things, they simply load everything into the van and out it again at the other end.

It was a bargain at £200!

I thought they were really good. Nothing was broken, the men worked really hard and went out of their way to help- and it saved us a fortune.

Depends if you dont mind the boxing up though I guess!
