new staircase or hand rails -how much??

anyone had this done? The websites say nothing about cost but have lots of lovely pics to draw you in.

We had our horrid 60s ranch monstrosity replaced with a wooden staircase about 5 yrs ago. The bits came from some huge company the name of which escapes me but it was a man's first and last names.

Fairly straightforward, tho' there's a gallery landing which goes round a corner, so 1.5 sets of stairs, overlooking the abyss if you know what I mean. A local builder made the whole thing for, iirc, about £3 or £4k over about a week. No problems, and he had something done to it which means it won't need staining for donkeys years.

It was the labour which was expensive, as we used a proper carpenter. If you/your dh are good at DIY you could save a lot of that.
