cianHelp! Can anyone recommend an electrician in London?

The light circuit in my flat has gone! After much fiddling this weekend, DP and his builder mate have conceded it is beyond them.

Can anyone recommend a good sparkie in North or East London? (We're in Hackney)

TIA

EC1 lighting in Amwell Street are good. They are not super cheap, but are reliable and good quality work.

Thanks No134, I'll check them out.

I have a little suspicion they might be pricey though seeing as they're based in the city, they're really lighting specialists and they seem to be aimed at the business market!

I just want a common-or-garden sparkie to come to my house and fix the broken electrics, I don't need anything swish done!

However I may be being presumptuous! I will certainly give them a ring and see what they say, thanks very much for the info.

Why does my title say cianHelp I wonder?!!!

I must not be awake today!

If any one else can help (or even cianHelp ) with details of an electrician, I'd be very grateful.

Have you tried www.ratedpeople.co.uk
You enter the job you have and then three people who want the job will get back to you with quotes.

They do domestic stuff, definitely, and it's Islington rather than the City. We've used them twice, once for installing lights in our old house, and most recently for a complete rewire in our dilapidated new house.

The bloke who does most of the work (as opposed to most of the talking) is pushing 70 I reckon, but very good.

Good electricians are like hen's teeth I reckon.

I've used Harland & Voss who were reliable (on time) and v helpful. They probably aren't the cheapest but I would use them again.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it.
You are of course right, No134, I called them and they do provide electricians.

The problem, in case anyone is interested, turns out to be bloody rats, They've chewed through the wires

I am currently sulking about it over here.

Pimlico plumbers - again not the cheapest but I have used them for everything in the past - even roofing - brilliant.
