Ditra Matting. Anyone had any tiling done recently and used this?

We have a 30' Hallway and are getting quotes for having it tiled.

One Tiler, who we like and is cheap (and has been recommended by a colleague as has just done their bathroom) uses Ditra Matting instead of Ply as it is soo much quicker to fit than Ply over the floorboards. (He will do ply, for not too much more money as ply is cheaper but takes a lot longer)

I have looked at the Youtube videos, and read reviews, and they all say it is great for waterproofing etc, but I would like reassurance that it is as stable as ply for a large area that gets a LOT of daily traffic.

Has anyone used it / know anyone who has used it?

Thanks

Yes. Would recommend it. My builder (I am an architect) always uses it. Good if you are using electric underfloor heating mat too.

You still do need a decent subfloor though for the ditra matting to go on (ie, not moving uneven floorboards).

Thank you

I think our floorboards are sound, but the guy said he would check them all, screw them down etc.

It it was a small area I would have had no hesitation, I just wanted confirmation it was good for a large (dry) area.

Now, I just need to save up to get my bathroom re-fitted as well........
