HELP!! I need a project manager to manage the actual build

well I think I do

thanks to our nightmare neighbour, we have had to put back our building plans by several months and they are due to start in the next few weeks

unfortunately, because of the delay, this has now hit us at both mine and dh's busiest times so neither of us can take leave and we both work full time and frankly, everything is becoming a nightmare.

it is not even a huge build, just a loft conversion but we have not had one second to even plan the moving (we have a storage unit), where we are going to stay (moving the stairs will mean we have to be out - the children have a nanny so they can't be in the house around the builders either)...

do people exist who come in and help you manage everything? sort out the moving dates, help us find other accommodation, meet with the builders etc. etc.

ok what is budget for accom?
We moved out for 6 weeks when we did work and I put cards in local shops saying
Small family with massive but well behaved dog need somewhwere to stay for 6 weeks during building work

We got a great flat off a couple going travelling for peanuts

Not a PM, and my brother (who is, as well as being an interior designer) is off on holiday tomorrow, but just wanted to wish you luck with the loft and say 'congrats' on having got past the neighbour issues. Hope to be right behind you on the latter...

And, we only left for one night when our loft was done last year in old house - I thought it would be far worse than it was, but apart from a bit of dust and dirt it was really quite liveable with. Our builders sealed things off beautifully - or rather, they would have done but I was totally paranoid and beat them to it with a roll of masking tape . That said, it was a bit bigger house so we could avoid the landing and dart in to bedrooms fairly easily.

Hi Elibean, she's not sorted unfortunately. We've had to completely amend our plans. It's all permitted development so we have the go ahead from the council but ALL the surveyors said that she is such a nightmare that they all unanimously recommended that we amended the plans to only do the loft this time and do the ground floor extension another time (if you think of a normal 2 up 2 down in london, extending over the passage at the back to make the kitchen the same width as the house iyswim). So sigh....but at least we can do the loft otherwise the dcs were still sharing a room and they are getting on!

so far, the surveyors fees have been in 4 figures ffs, all because of her! and of course, we are paying her fees and she orders meetings with hers all the time argh

re the accommodation, that's an inspired idea cd, I am going to put a note up in the newsagent!

Shame . And that she's managed to stop plans under permitted dev., thats shocking. Just about every house in our area has had the side return passage extended to widen the kitchen, I don't think anyone around here would stand a chance of stopping that sort of building work. Hope its temporary, for you.

We're sort of the other way around, because I think we'll get the Award next week regardless of neighbour not granting access to surveyors (she won't even let one in, let alone organize meetings!). Apparently they end up just taking photos of her house from the outside, and granting it anyway - her loss, no survey. BUT...we want to do the loft too. So we'll be here again in a few months' time.....
