apparently WD40 can get crayon off, if it's a washable paint.

notwavingjustironing · 30/03/2010 15:55

Theres a magic sponge type thing (might be JML but I can't remember).

You wet it and I promise it gets crayon and pencil off the wall, and scuff marks etc etc. I'm sure someone will be along with the correct name for it soon, but don't worry, at least it's not black marker pen!

ToccataAndFudge · 30/03/2010 15:56

I have no idea if it's washable paint or not - it's in the hallway.

I stlll need to find the offending crayon as well, (didn't actually see him do it - but DS1/2 spotted it when they cam ehome from school so I know it's him) and put it with the others out of reach.

Rub it with a bit of toothpaste.

(can't say I've tried it but I'm told it works, please let me know!)

The question is it the wall of a rented flat? DD drew on wall of our rented flat in marker pen and I didnt notice for a few days as it was under the (rented ) table, I could not get the bloody stuff off and landlord still questions me about DD drawing habits

ToccataAndFudge · 30/03/2010 15:59

ok so two votes for this magic eraser whatsit from JML, 2 for WD40, one for toothpaste

Only one I have in the house at the moment is toothpaste.

Will have to wait until Thursday

yes it's a rented house Helen - only moved in 3 1/2 weeks ago.

WD40 works

As does a bit of ciff on the back of a sponge and plenty of elbow greece.

overmydeadbody · 30/03/2010 16:06

just clean it as best you can, and before you move out give the whole hall a lick of new white paint.

No point stressing about it

bintofbohemia · 30/03/2010 16:06

Is it painted wall, paper or wood? (not sure why it makes a difference, if it's on the wood would be more confident re the toothpaste tip)

ToccataAndFudge · 30/03/2010 16:08

painted wall I think

Baby wipes work. Saved our laminate flooring anyway.

RunningOutOfIdeas · 30/03/2010 16:32

Here is my vote for WD40. DD has drawn with crayon on a wall, door and table - all successfully removed.

There is a very large document on the Crayolla website with details of how to remove crayon from virtually any surface. It always starts with WD40.

ToccataAndFudge · 30/03/2010 17:47

will the WD40 work on the blinds as well...........just discovered he's been at those as well

babywipes

samja · 30/03/2010 18:16

I'd try a normal rubber. It got crayon marks off our walls.

SparklyJules · 30/03/2010 18:19

Magic JML sponge thing worked for this house.

Although... there was the time when DD took a crayon all around DH's new silver car. He flipped out and demanded that I clean it up as we were about to go to his parent's house to show it off. So I start sponging and realise I am getting nowhere. So, I tried the scouring side of the brush and it came off a treat.

I didn't notice until the car dried that the paintwork also came off a treat. All the way round the car.

Four years later, you can still tell.

How I'm not divorced, I don't know.

Here is the link to the part of the Crayola website that tells you how to remove stains

RunningOutOfIdeas - thank ou so much for that link! I have bookmarked it for future reference as well.

Magic Eraser worked on my dd's marker pen masterpiece!! The only problem is I rubbed too hard and it took the paint off the wall too - ours is a rented house as well so there goes the deposit!

ToccataAndFudge · 01/04/2010 11:13

wow - DS1/2 have just called me into the halllway - they've just got the stuff off the wall with a wipe. Not a trace of it left.
